Roland Drake was destined to be a writer, ever since he was a small boy. He remembers writing his first short story in the fifth grade. It was a fan fiction episode of the TV show Happy Days, in which Richie, Ralph, Potsie and the Fonz get trapped inside a haunted house! Later in high school, he received accolades for a story called Buried Alive, in which a lonely grave-digger gets trapped inside a coffin and must figure out how to escape. Over the years, Roland submitted science fiction stories to magazines like Asimov’s, Analog, and F&SF, but he received only rejections. Finally, after a long career in Information Technology, Roland’s dream of becoming a science fiction writer came to fruition in 2024 when he self-published the first volume of his Corbo Mallik series, The Cult of Calladon. The rest is history (or soon will be)!
Originally from northern New Jersey, Roland now lives in Southern California with his wife and two sons. A fan of science fiction since the 1970’s, Roland also enjoys tennis, hiking, and travelling around the world. He hopes one day to see humans land on Mars, and to experience the discovery of extraterrestrial life.
